Last To LEave Podcast

Last to Leave is a film & tv interview podcast hosted by Heather Elaine Abbott & Zoey Danielson.

This film interview podcast is all about giving a voice to a wide variety of collaborators in film & tv. The last to leave set are not often the first to be interviewed and this show seeks to share their stories! Over the past three years, the show has featured interviews with creatives like Paul Rogers (Editor | Everything Everywhere All At Once), Helen Huang (Costume Designer | Station Eleven, Beef), Ita O’Brien (Intimacy Coordinator | I May Destroy You, Normal People), Katherine Jakeways (Creator/Writer/Executive Producer | The Buccaneers), and Joanna Naugle (Editor | The Bear, Molli and Max in the Future). The show has also released bonus episodes that center on movies that the hosts love across a variety of genres and topics! This has also allowed them to connect with other creators like Nick Canovas (Youtuber | Mic the Snare) and Peyton Lynch & Deb Duncan (Podcasters | Queer Movie Night). Basically, the Last to Leave backlog is extensive!

First to Arrive

First to Arrive is a companion newsletter to Last to Leave that features updates about previous guests, media recommendations, insights into the making of the podcast, and truly anything else that the hosts are eager to share with their fellow film nerds.

Queer Movie Night

In this crossover episode, Deb and Peyton are joined by Zoey Danielson & Heather Elaine Abbott (of the Last to Leave podcast) to talk about Princess Cyd (2017)! They also discuss filming in Chicago, spirituality in queer films, and trying to make “Doop!Doop!” happen!

Equally Funny

Cait and co-host Heather Elaine Abbott tackle Diet Culture, tracing its origins to the 1800s and talking through present day incarnations of the lie that skinny = happy, healthy, and beautiful. They call out the recent sneaky repackaging of diet culture into wellness culture, and how it’s really all the same Scooby-Doo villain in a different mask. The episode concludes with a discussion of our co-hosts’ journey moving away from diet culture, places where listeners can learn more, and a robust convo about some TV shows our co-hosts would like to see translated into musicals.

CW: This episode includes some discussion of diets and eating disorders.
